CoStar – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 August 2026
CoStar does not collect any data about you.
That is the whole policy. The rest of this page explains what that means in practice.
What is stored, and where
Everything CoStar remembers stays on your device:
- Your daily results, streak, and score distribution
- Which theme you have chosen
- The date of the last film-list update check
None of it is transmitted anywhere. There is no account, no sign-in, and no way for the app to associate anything with you. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Network activity
CoStar makes exactly one kind of network request: about once a week, it checks a public file for an updated film list.
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/drdjcannon/costar-data/main/films.json
That request is unauthenticated and sends no information about you or your device beyond what any web request necessarily includes. The file is public: you can open that link yourself and see precisely what the app downloads.
What CoStar does not do
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers
- No tracking across apps or websites
- No third-party SDKs of any kind
- No location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone access
- Nothing sold or shared, because nothing is collected
Children
CoStar collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
Tips
If Apple adds optional tip purchases in a future version, those are handled entirely by Apple. CoStar never sees your payment details.
Data attribution
Film and cast data originates from TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Changes
Any change to this policy will appear on this page with a new date above.
