CoStar – Support

CoStar is a daily movie-connection puzzle. Every day you get two performers, and your job is to link them through films they actually appeared in. Fewest films wins.

How to play

• You are shown today’s pair and the best possible score, for example “3 films”.
• Tap Pick a film, choose one from the current performer’s credits, then choose a co-star from that film. That co-star becomes your new position.
• Keep going until you reach the target. Everyone gets the same pair on the same day.
• Hard mode hides the filmography and the par score, so you search the whole library from memory.
• Stuck? Show me the answer completes the chain from wherever you are, and tells you whether your own route was still on par. It keeps your streak, but the day will not count as a perfect solve.

Common questions

A film I know about is missing. The film list is curated on purpose. A complete credits database connects almost any two people in two steps, through documentaries, talk shows and award ceremonies, which would make every puzzle identical and trivial. CoStar sticks to well-known theatrical features so the connections are ones you have a fair chance of knowing. The list grows over time and the app refreshes it automatically.

A performer shows fewer films than I expected. Same reason. Explore shows the films in CoStar’s library, not a complete filmography.

Do I need an account? No. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no analytics. Your streak and history live on your device only.

Does it work offline? Yes. The whole film library ships inside the app. The only network request CoStar ever makes is a weekly check for an updated film list.

I found a wrong credit. Please tell me, with the film and the performer, and I will fix it in the next data update.

How do I change the look? Tap the palette icon in the top bar. There are fourteen themes, including light ones.
