Movie Night Bingo – Support
Movie Night Bingo is party bingo for watching films with friends. Pick a genre pack, get a card of cheesy tropes, dab them as they happen on screen, and shout when you get a line.
How to play
- One person taps New Card, picks a pack and a card size, and gets a four-character code.
- Everyone else taps Join with a Code and types those four characters in. Same pack, same size, and by default a different arrangement each, so it is a real race.
- When something on your card happens on screen, dab it. A full row, column, or diagonal is a bingo. Say it out loud.
- Keep playing for a second line, or hold out for the whole card.
Common questions
Do I need an account, or an internet connection? Neither. The four-character code itself carries the pack, the card size, and the deal, so two phones that type the same code land on the same game with nothing sent anywhere. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no analytics.
Can I change my card? Tap Shuffle for a fresh deal, as many times as you like. It disappears the moment you dab your first tile, so nobody can re-roll their way out of a bad night. Un-dabbing a mis-tap hands the shuffle back.
Everyone got a different card. Was that meant to happen? Yes, that is the default and it is the classic bingo race. If you would rather everyone played the identical card, choose Everyone gets the same card when you deal. Shuffle is disabled in that mode, because one player re-dealing would quietly put them out of sync with the group.
We disagree about whether something counted. Long-press any tile to see a line explaining what counts. House rules worth agreeing on up front: only what actually happens on screen counts, trailers and adverts do not, and a tile counts once, so six explosions is still one explosion tile.
Can I add our own running jokes? Yes. Open My Packs, then either copy one of the included packs and edit the copy, or write one from scratch. Nine tiles makes a pack playable on a 3 x 3, sixteen on a 4 x 4, and twenty-four on a 5 x 5.
The six included packs never change, on purpose: a code has to deal the same content on everyone’s phone, so if you could edit Horror directly, every code your friends had written down would break. Copying gives you the same freedom with none of that.
How do I share a pack I made? Open the pack, tap Send This Pack, and send the message however you like. The other person opens My Packs, taps Paste a shared pack, and pastes it in. Then compare the pack check, the two characters shown next to the room code: if they match, you are holding the same pack.
We are on the same code but our cards look wrong. Compare the pack check on the invite screen. Different values mean you are on different content, usually because one phone has an older version of the app, or because a custom pack has not been imported on every device.
Can I play a custom pack with friends? Yes, but everyone has to import it first and have it selected. A room code carries the pack slot, not its contents, which is why only one of your own packs is live at a time: the one with the tick in My Packs.
The bingo fanfare is too loud, or plays when my phone is on silent. That is deliberate, so the rest of the room hears the win. Turn it off in Look & Feel under Celebration.
Can I change how it looks? Look & Feel has six colour themes including a light one, ten dab marks, and ten dab colours. With four phones showing the same card, different marks are how a table tells them apart. The flash and confetti can be switched off there too, and the app also honours the system Reduce Motion setting.
Where did my finished card go? Into History. Tap any night to pull the card back up exactly as you played it, and rename it afterwards, since nobody decides what they are watching until the card is already dealt.
What do the tips do? Nothing, and that is the point. Every pack, every card size, and every theme is free, with no ads and no paywall. The tip jar is there if the app earned a laugh on a Friday night.
